Asia: Contrasts Are Only the Beginning

Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent, covering about 30% of Earth’s total land area. Asia is notable for not only its overall size and population but its dense as well as barely populated regions within the continent of 4.4 [?] billion people. Asia has exhibited economic as well as population growth during the 20th century, but overall population growth has since fallen to world average levels. Given its size and diversity, the concept of Asia may actually have more to do with human than physical geography. Asia varies greatly across its regions with regard to ethnic groups, cultures, environments, economics, historical ties and government systems.

Cambodia: Becki Sardeson

Over the last seven years I served as the director of staff care and development at Agape International Missions School. In this role I ministered to staff as they faced family crises, helped welcome new babies into the world, cared for those in the hospital and discipled and mentored the school staff. As I supported these young Cambodian Christians they were able to minister more effectively in their community through social work, teaching and caring for the children and families in AIM School.

In this new season I will be taking my experience from my previous role, my heart for this country and her people and all my gifts to help AIM develop a Staff Care department. My vision is to holistically invest in the Cambodian staff, so that they may have what they need to be the Lord’s light and love to the community. This program will include mentoring staff, providing life-skills training and equipping them to serve in the roles the Lord has them in. Over the next several months I will be meeting with program leaders, learning about what the needs are for the staff, creating a staff care program design and of course continuing to care for my friends and co-workers.
