ASIA

Asia: Contrasts Are Only the Beginning

Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent, covering about 30% of Earth’s total land area. Asia is notable for not only its overall size and population but its dense as well as barely populated regions within the continent of 4.4 [?] billion people. Asia has exhibited economic as well as population growth during the 20th century, but overall population growth has since fallen to world average levels. Given its size and diversity, the concept of Asia may actually have more to do with human than physical geography. Asia varies greatly across its regions with regard to ethnic groups, cultures, environments, economics, historical ties and government systems.

Cambodia: Kayla and Yuhan Mon

Kayla Broadrick Mon and Yuhan Mon are a Cambodian/American couple who are serving with the local church in Kampong Thom, the middle province in the country of Cambodia. Both Kayla and Yuhan were serving the Lord in the nation’s capital city before, but felt an expressed call from the Lord to move to Yuhan’s home province in 2021. God has laid a burden on their hearts to serve those in the lesser populated parts of the countryside and to see youth and children active and growing in their faith even throughout the small villages. Currently their main focus is on children and youth ministry especially sharing the Gospel of Jesus through Sport and Play.

They have been serving with Balang Baptist Church alongside Yuhan’s adopted father, Mon Hon, for the last two years. They have felt a great burden to help train current church leadership as well as raising up the next generation of leaders through youth and children’s ministry—especially through sport. Currently they are meeting with around 30 youth weekly to play soccer together and learn about the Lord. Also, they are able to connect with several other local churches throughout the province through this soccer ministry, encouraging one another in the faith and praying for one another’s ministries.
