Asia: Contrasts Are Only the Beginning

Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent, covering about 30% of Earth’s total land area. Asia is notable for not only its overall size and population but its dense as well as barely populated regions within the continent of 4.4 [?] billion people. Asia has exhibited economic as well as population growth during the 20th century, but overall population growth has since fallen to world average levels. Given its size and diversity, the concept of Asia may actually have more to do with human than physical geography. Asia varies greatly across its regions with regard to ethnic groups, cultures, environments, economics, historical ties and government systems.

Cambodia: The Ki Family

Katie and Sokion Ki share a heart for impacting the next generation of Cambodians through education and discipleship. They met each other while Katie was living in Cambodia from 2011-2014, and since 2020, they have been serving in Cambodia together as a family. They have partnered with an organization in Phnom Penh called Asian Hope. Katie teaches 1st grade at Asian Hope International School (AHIS), a Christian bilingual school for Cambodian children. Their two oldest children, Evelyn and Josiah, also attend school at AHIS.

Sokion, who was born and raised in Cambodia, has a passion to build up leaders for God’s kingdom among his people. Since arriving back in Cambodia, he has been serving as a Next Steps Discipleship Pastor for a group of Khmer college students who grew up in an orphanage in the countryside.
