UGANDA: Taylor & Lizzy Barnes

Taylor and Lizzy work with Ekisa Ministries in Jinja, Uganda, serving children with disabilities and their families. They serve in a community that views children born with disabilities as cursed – which sometimes leads to families abandoning those children. Working alongside local Ugandan believers, they help to love and care for those children, as well as reach out to their families and the community with the Gospel.

Ekisa envisions a Uganda where every child grows up in a loving family, regardless of their disability. They believe that every person deserves to be included in a community that recognizes their value and unique contribution. They dream of the day when differences are celebrated, no more children need to be institutionalized, and people with disabilities are given the unconditional love and support they need to grow and thrive. Today, they stand in the gap and come alongside children and their families as they rewrite the story of disability in their communities.
